RTC drivers asked to follow road safety norms
Vijayawada, June 23 : Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation Managing Director A K Khan on Saturday called upon RTC drivers to strictly follow the road safety norms while driving.
Talking to media persons after inspecting the RTC depot at Vijayawada, the Managing Director said that the drivers should not play with lives of passengers while driving and adopt safety norms in letter and spirit. Stating that rash and drunken driving would cause enormous loss to life, he asked the drivers to follow speed limit norms to prevent accidents.
Stating that the crack down on the private travel agency buses causing Rs 1000 crore loss annually to RTC, Khan said that the occupancy rate of RTC buses improved after the RTA officials drive against illegal agencies and seizing of unauthorized buses on the basis of fitness certificate.
He said that the officials have identified the 135 routes, where private buses operating services illegally and take serious action against them. He said that RTC would conduct searches in 60 routes taking the assistance of RTA officials.
